It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

As a kid, my favorite part of the holidays was receiving gifts. I mean, isn’t that pretty much every kid? But now, as an adult, I freaking love giving gifts. Shopping for just the right thing for a loved one or making something special that you’ll know they’ll enjoy.

Books are one of my favorite things to give as gifts. It’s fun picking out just the right read for someone based on what you know they enjoy. Here are some of my favorite fantasy and sci-fi novels that will make amazing gifts for the people on your list. Bonus: they’re all independently published!

I’ve teased some of the main characters on my Instagram, but today I’m going to introduce you to more of the cast of Hell's Revenge.

I have a confession. I haven’t really hopped on the Goodreads train. For me, it’s just one more social media to keep up with. I can barely balance Facebook and Instagram, and I’ve been trying to post on Twitter. I just don’t really have the energy to devote to Goodreads.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t have my favorite reading websites and apps! I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite and most-used resources for everything reading.

I often tell people that The Sage’s Consort and subsequent books aren’t your typical fantasy novels. I also like to say that they are “fantasy for non-fantasy readers” or “gateway fantasy.” But what does all that really mean?

The Sage's War releases tomorrow! I can’t believe it. Soon, the final installment in the Scholars of Elandria series will be out in the world. I’m. So. Fucking. Excited.

I always say that The Scholars of Elandria books are character- and theme-driven more than plot-driven. I cover many major themes, and most of them were intentional from the beginning. Some of these are reverence for nature, critiques of patriarchy, the dangers of religious zealotry, and self-acceptance and growth. But one theme in particular forced its way into Quinn’s story, and later Amarice and Raymond’s:

I don’t usually listen to music while I write. It’s hard for me to get immersed in the world when I do. However, there are always songs that remind me of my story, and I use them to get inspired.
